Maili Felton Garden Design

Bellamy House, Salisbury, Wiltshire

The clients wanted a complete redesign of their back garden to be implemented in stages. The first stage was to create a long deep border on the east side of the garden. It was decided that a woodland style planting would be suitable as there were some pretty coppiced hazels and shrubs which provided much needed privacy and shade. The overgrown and inappropriate shrubs were removed and three semi-mature Birch were added and all was underplanted with shade loving shrubs and woodland perennials such as Ferns, Hostas, Foxgloves, Geranium, Anemones etc. The second stage of ‘cloud pruned’ Choisya ternata against the shady wall has been implemented and buxus balls planted on the lawn. Work is currently underway on the more classical herbaceous border.
